Van Besouw is a household name in the world of carpet and has a rich history. Since 1839, craftsmanship and innovation have brought the brand to where it is today: a leading supplier of high quality and contemporary carpet. For its carefully curated collection, only the best materials are good enough; selected to last and made with consideration for people and the environment. The designs and colors consist of a balanced mix of the latest trends and timeless classics and are developed in the Netherlands. Van Besouw has its own workshop where you can have your own unique custom rug made in any color, structure, shape, size or a combination of these.
The constant drive for innovation runs like a thread through Van Besouw's existence. An important anchor point in its history is the year 1967. Van Besouw develops the famous cotton loop carpet, in collaboration with industrial designer Benno Premsela. A design classic was born: 3801 is still relevant today and is still in our collection. Today, Van Besouw carpets are developed and produced using three unique processes: knitting, weaving and tufting. Because we believe in a circular economy, we aim to use 100% recyclable raw materials by 2025. In addition, for the future, we are focusing on developing monomaterials: one type of material for the fibers, binding thread and backing of our carpets. This will make them fully recyclable and easily reusable at the end of their useful life.
